When everything becomes digital as today; the job of creative design goes broader as designer is demanded in creating a good design which is suitable for digital needs. In fact, some people may think that the designer’s job is only for creating a good design, well the job actually is not that simple as a designer is demanded to do more today, such as producing a design which does not only influence our visual sense but it is also expected can influence the audience’s feeling, so now you may realize about how important a designer’s job really is as they do more than just put a nice pretty ambiance things. That is why as a web designer, you will realize that in design world, especially in web design, you will face two board terms and both of them are supposedly created to support one to each other. The terms are User Interface (UI) and User Experience (EX) design which as a web designer or a web developer you may want to know what the difference between both of them.

UI & UX design

Many people may have a misconception about the definition and the difference of UI and UX design as even designer sometimes can also misunderstand about these terms. At some points, it seems like they are interchangeable, but in fact user interface is not user experience, as user interface is focused on the actual elements that interact with the user while UI refers to the aggregation of approaches and elements which allow user to interact with a system. A UI designer will be concerned on creating interactive designs, icons, colors, text, and affect a number of other elements that solve problems dealing with direct interactions to the user while UX may concern on the user’s feeling when they interact with a design, this will lead the UX designer to consider about, content, speed, functional performance, color scheme, personality, customer support, set expectations, financial approach, and visualization.

For example, sometimes when you click on a button in a web, you find that the button will arouse an effect such as the ripple effect, press down effect, sparkling effect, and etc. The feeling which you experience after taking an action on a design is called as user experience. Therefore, a user experience designer is responsible on determining what kind of effect which can convey a particular feeling to the audience. This why user experience design is called designing for Emotion while user interface is called visual design or in the other words, you can say the entire product is UX, an individual section is UI. Therefore, you need to bear in mind the differences as the incorrect usage of them is dangerous.
